B. speciosa for A - Gothic botany

  1. Not only gothic in form but also the canary in the coalmine for the West Australian bioto in regions supported by banksia 'forest’ such as most of the SE coastal area from the coast to the mallee. Banksia speciosa like all of the banksias is very sensitive to dieback which has taken out an immeasurable area of the lower half of West Australia leaving a variety of landscapes from here to Perth that are stark, denuded, atrophied... gothic.
